# Connect an assistant

> Add Flozu to Claude Code, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, ChatGPT or another AI assistant, so it can map your code into your account and work with your maps.

Flozu has an MCP server, so AI assistants can work in your account. Connect one and it can map a repository straight into a project, read your maps, run scenarios on them and suggest changes. Every change it makes to a map that’s already there comes in as a proposal for you to adopt in [Versions](https://docs.flozu.app/guides/versions-and-proposals.md).

Your code stays on your computer. The assistant reads it there and sends Flozu only the map it draws: the parts, how they connect and what they’re called.

Flozu’s MCP address is:

```text
https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp
```

Whichever assistant you use, it ends the same way: your browser opens Flozu, you sign in if you haven’t, check it’s your account, and choose **Allow**. There’s no key to copy. When you’re signed in, the robot button at the top right of Flozu has the quickest way: pick Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex or Gemini CLI, and it shows three steps with the command ready to copy, or a button that adds Flozu in one go.

> **Note**
>
> Accounts are invite-only while Flozu is in beta. Without one, an assistant can still [map your code into a file](https://docs.flozu.app/guides/map-your-code.md) that you import.

## Assistants that read your code

These run on your computer, beside your code, so they can map a repository.

### Claude Code

- **Terminal**

  1. Add Flozu. `--scope user` makes it work in every project.

     ```shell
     claude mcp add --transport http --scope user flozu https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp
     ```

  2. In Claude Code, run `/mcp`, choose **flozu**, then **Authenticate**.

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

- **Shared with your team**

  1. Put this in `.mcp.json` at the top of the repository and commit it. Everyone who opens the repository in Claude Code gets Flozu.

     ```json
     {
       "mcpServers": {
         "flozu": {
           "type": "http",
           "url": "https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp"
         }
       }
     }
     ```

  2. Each person runs `/mcp`, chooses **flozu**, then **Authenticate**, and signs in to Flozu as themselves.

Claude Code's VS Code and JetBrains extensions use the same servers, so adding it once covers them too.

### Cursor

- **One click**

  1. Add Flozu to Cursor. Cursor opens and asks you to confirm. [Add to Cursor](cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=flozu\&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL215LmZsb3p1LmFwcC9hcGkvbWNwIn0%3D)

  2. In **Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP**, choose **Connect** beside Flozu.

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

- **Settings file**

  1. Add Flozu to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for every project, or to `.cursor/mcp.json` in one repository.

     ```json
     {
       "mcpServers": {
         "flozu": {
           "url": "https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp"
         }
       }
     }
     ```

  2. In **Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP**, choose **Connect** beside Flozu.

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

Ask in Cursor's chat, in Agent mode.

### VS Code

With GitHub Copilot’s chat, in Agent mode.

- **One click**

  1. Add Flozu to VS Code. VS Code opens and shows Flozu: choose **Install**. [Install in VS Code](vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22flozu%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fmy.flozu.app%2Fapi%2Fmcp%22%7D)

  2. VS Code asks to let Flozu sign in. Choose **Allow**.

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

- **Terminal**

  1. Add Flozu.

     ```shell
     code --add-mcp '{"name":"flozu","type":"http","url":"https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp"}'
     ```

  2. VS Code asks to let Flozu sign in. Choose **Allow**.

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

- **Settings file**

  1. Add Flozu to `.vscode/mcp.json` in the repository, then choose **Start** above it.

     ```json
     {
       "servers": {
         "flozu": {
           "type": "http",
           "url": "https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp"
         }
       }
     }
     ```

  2. VS Code asks to let Flozu sign in. Choose **Allow**.

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

Ask in Copilot Chat, in Agent mode.

### Codex

OpenAI’s coding assistant.

- **Terminal**

  1. Add Flozu.

     ```shell
     codex mcp add flozu --url https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp
     ```

  2. Sign in to it.

     ```shell
     codex mcp login flozu
     ```

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

- **Settings file**

  1. Add Flozu to `~/.codex/config.toml`.

     ```toml
     [mcp_servers.flozu]
     url = "https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp"
     ```

  2. Sign in to it.

     ```shell
     codex mcp login flozu
     ```

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

The Codex CLI, its IDE extension and the Codex app share these settings, so adding it once covers all three.

### Windsurf

1. Add Flozu to `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json`. In Cascade, **MCPs → Manage MCPs → View raw config** opens it.

   ```json
   {
     "mcpServers": {
       "flozu": {
         "serverUrl": "https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp"
       }
     }
   }
   ```

2. Save it, then choose **Refresh** in Cascade's list of MCPs.

3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

### Gemini CLI

- **Terminal**

  1. Add Flozu.

     ```shell
     gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user flozu https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp
     ```

  2. In Gemini, sign in to it.

     ```text
     /mcp auth flozu
     ```

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

- **Settings file**

  1. Add Flozu to `~/.gemini/settings.json`.

     ```json
     {
       "mcpServers": {
         "flozu": {
           "httpUrl": "https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp"
         }
       }
     }
     ```

  2. In Gemini, sign in to it.

     ```text
     /mcp auth flozu
     ```

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

Gemini Code Assist's agent mode, in VS Code and JetBrains, reads the same settings file.

## Chat apps

Chat apps can read your maps, run scenarios and suggest changes, but they can’t read the code on your computer. To map a repository, use one of the assistants above.

### Claude

In the Claude desktop app, on claude.ai and on your phone. A connector added in one is in all of them. This is Claude the chat app: Claude Code has its own steps, [above](#claude-code).

- **Free, Pro and Max**

  1. Open **Settings → Connectors** and choose **Add custom connector**.

  2. Name it **Flozu**, paste the address, and choose **Add**.

     ```text
     https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp
     ```

  3. Choose **Connect** beside Flozu.

  4. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

  5. In a chat, open **+ → Connectors** and check Flozu is on.

- **Team and Enterprise**

  1. An owner adds Flozu once, for everyone: **Organization settings → Connectors → Add custom connector**, with the address.

     ```text
     https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp
     ```

  2. Each person opens **Settings → Connectors** and chooses **Connect** beside Flozu.

  3. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

Add it once, on the web or in the desktop app, and it's in both and on your phone. Claude in a chat can't read the code on your computer: to map a repository, use Claude Code.

### ChatGPT

1. Open **Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings** and turn on **Developer mode**.

2. Back in **Apps & Connectors**, choose **Create**. Name it **Flozu**, paste the address, and set **Authentication** to **OAuth**.

   ```text
   https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp
   ```

3. Tick **I trust this application**, then choose **Create**.

4. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

5. In a chat, choose **+ → More → Developer mode** and turn Flozu on.

Developer mode is on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu. On Business and Enterprise, an admin may need to allow it first. ChatGPT can't read the code on your computer: to map a repository, use Codex.

## Another assistant

Any assistant that takes MCP servers can connect.

- **Remote servers**

  1. If it takes remote MCP servers that sign in (Streamable HTTP and OAuth), give it the address. It registers itself, so there's no key to copy.

     ```text
     https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp
     ```

  2. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

- **Local servers only**

  1. If it only runs MCP servers on your computer, add Flozu through `mcp-remote`, which needs Node.js.

     ```json
     {
       "mcpServers": {
         "flozu": {
           "command": "npx",
           "args": [
             "-y",
             "mcp-remote",
             "https://my.flozu.app/api/mcp"
           ]
         }
       }
     }
     ```

  2. Your browser opens Flozu. Check it's your account, and choose **Allow**.

## What to ask

Once it’s connected, ask in your own words. For example:

- **“Map this repo into my Flozu account”**\
  Reads the code where it is and draws a new map, in the project you name.
- **“Map this repo again and suggest the changes”**\
  Maps it again onto its map as a proposal, keeping what you moved and wrote.
- **“Map each repo in this folder into my Payments project, then draw an overview”**\
  One map a repository, and an overview whose parts open each one.
- **“Run Black Friday on my Checkout map and tell me what breaks first”**\
  Plays a ready-made scenario and says what runs short, and what to change.
- **“Suggest a fix for what breaks, and check it copes”**\
  Saves the fix as a proposal and plays the scenario on it.
- **“Add a story along the checkout path”**\
  Suggests a story, step by step, for you to adopt in Versions.

For a whole repository, the assistant follows Flozu’s guide to mapping code, the same one as in [Map your code with Claude](https://docs.flozu.app/guides/map-your-code.md), so the map comes out laid out and readable. Mapping a repository again keeps what you moved, coloured and wrote.

## Disconnecting

Remove Flozu in the assistant, the way you added it: for example, `claude mcp remove flozu` in Claude Code, or in Claude’s **Settings → Connectors**. To connect it again, add it again and allow it.
